Food Lion Feeds supports Second Harvest Food Bank


Picture of her drawing.jpgEleven-year-old Mikayla Nathan of Spring Lake, North Carolina was recently honored as an "Honorable Mention" winner in the 2017 Food Lion Feeds "Roar Against Hunger" Design-a-Reusable Bag contest. In fact, her design was selected from more than 400 entries this year. Her drawing, which will be featured on the side of the reusable bag, will be sold in more than 1,000 Food Lion stores throughout the United States. Screenshot_20170603-114240.jpg
 
This past weekend, Food Lion #2594, located in Spring Lake, hosted a bag signing event in honor of Mikayla. Mikayla's parents, two sisters, and several teachers from Overhills Elementary School were present to support Mikayla in her success. Also present were Harnett County Chairman Gordon Springle, Vice Chairman Joe Miller and Alderwoman Denise Lucas.
 
Food Lion Manager Kris Thorton, presented a $500.00 donation to Action Pathways and Second Harvest Food Bank of Southeast North Carolina on behalf of Mikayla and her creative talents.
